Between 1964 and 1966, 33 agents were recruited by the Second Department of the Second Board of the KGB of the LSSR. The selection and recruiting was carried out among so-called nationalists and people who held anti-Soviet views. They were employed for counterintelligence tasks in order to restrict the anti-Soviet activities of Lithuanian émigrés in the West and to influence them.
